Help enrich the lives of older adults in our community. You will play an invaluable role in ensuring seniors receive a nutritious and affordable meal, as well as enjoy opportunities to socialize and get connected to activities and services that promote healthy aging.
La Comida invites you to join our team of friendly and caring volunteers, and values your time and talents. A variety of fun and rewarding volunteer roles are available:
Welcome seniors (registration/check in, food distribution)
Serve lunch to guests COVID safe grab and go meals
Assist in special programs
Serve as a translator - Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, Spanish, etc.
Currently serving Grab and Go meals due to COVID19
COVID Protective gear provided. Glove and mask; minimal exposure.
All clients must wear mask at pick up time
Volunteer at La Comida is 10:15 to 12:15 Monday through Friday with most people choosing to volunteer 1 day a week.
Days of greatest need currently are Mondays and Wednesdays
We have two location in Palo Alto to volunteer 1-Downtown Palo Alto and 1- in South Palo Alto

La Comida serves a diverse population of seniors from all walks of life.
Our main volunteer programs are Monday-Friday 9:30am-12:45 p.m. Volunteers play an integral and essential role in welcoming and serving seniors. Volunteers work in small teams along with other volunteers and dedicated staff.
Lunch is served Monday-Friday 11:15 am - 12:15 pm at a main dining site in downtown Palo Alto (located at the Avenidas Center) and two satellite locations in Palo Alto.
All seniors are welcomed regardless of inability or failure to pay. A $3 voluntary contribution is welcomed from adults 60 and over; $8 for their guests under 60. La Comida receives partial funding from the City of Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, State of California and federal government.
La Comida has been serving seniors in the community since 1972.
