Mission Statement
La Comida is dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults by providing appetizing, nutritious, and affordable meals served in a cheerful and attractive setting. La Comida diners also enjoy the opportunity to socialize and connect to activities and resources that promote healthy aging.
Description
La Comida is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults over 60 by providing 3 key benefits:
- Nutritious and affordable meals
- Opportunities to socialize and be part of a community
- Connections to activities and services offered by non-profit partners.
Our main volunteer programs are Monday-Friday 9:30am-12:45 p.m. Volunteers play an integral and essential role in welcoming and serving seniors. Volunteers work in small teams along with other volunteers and dedicated staff.
Lunch is served Monday-Friday 11:45 am - 12:15 pm at a site in downtown Palo Alto (located 625 Hamilton Center) and at our South Palo Alto dinning room at Stevenson House 455 East Charleston Road, Palo Alto. 94306
All seniors are welcomed regardless of inability or failure to pay. A $3 voluntary contribution is welcomed from adults 60 and over; $8 for their guests under 60. La Comida receives partial funding from the City of Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, State of California and federal government as well as donations, all in efforts to support our mission.
La Comida has been serving seniors in the communityfor over 50 years since start in1972.
La Comida values volunteers' talents and energy, and strives to offer a rewarding and enjoyable volunteer experience.
