MDA 2

The Muscular Dystrophy Association needs volunteers that can come in during business hours (9-5 M-F) to help with an array of duties. Some of those duties include stuffing envelopes, organizing t-shirts, shredding paperowrk, and general organization of supplies.
With a small staff of 5 and a coverage area of 66 counties, we would appreciate any help as that help impacts the time that staff can spend on generating dollars to pay for local services for MDA families such as clinic, research efforts, summer camp, etc.

We have recently implemented a new volunteer interest system that provides several options for ways to get involved. This will help ensure a great fit in terms of time commitment and interests of our volunteers. It’s a quick and easy process, just copy and paste this link in your browser and complete the interest form - https://www.mda.org/get-involved/become-a-volunteer.

Mission Statement

The Muscular Dystrophy Association was founded in 1950 to assist those with muscle disorders. Description

From the Macon District Office, we cover 35 counties and have fundraisers going on year round. From companies and schools selling shamrocks to daycare center and elementary schools participating in the hop-a-thon program to community lock-ups (where community business leaders are arrested and have to raise "bail" to get out of the MDA "jail") to golf tournaments. We also produce 2 Telethons during Labor Day weekend. We have a bowl-a-thon and an annual walk. And lastly, our fire departments (both large and small) raise money year-round for MDA.
