NURSING HOME OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM

Volunteers age 55+ are needed to make weekly visits to a nursing home facility. As Ombudsmen, they meet with residents to educate them about their rights and advocate for them. An Ombudsman is asked to make a 1 year commitment. Possible site locations include: Milton, Braintree, Randolph and Randolph.

Initial training, in conjunction with the Mass State Ombudsman Program, requires 3 days. Monthly meetings are held for ongoing support and training. Fluency in one or more other languages (in addition to English) would be a real plus. The program is especially looking for volunteers that speak Russian, Spanish, Creole or Mandarin

We are also seeking volunteers to serve as money managers. These individuals provide assistance to the elderly, disabled individuals in basic home finance activities such as bill paying and budgeting.

PLEASE NOTE: This volunteer opportunity is available only to adults age 55 and older
