The HIV Day Center is a program of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s (EMO). We are a community of clients, staff, and volunteers that strive to address basic needs of individuals living with HIV/AIDS in a manner consistent with the values of respect, compassion and safety.
Support individuals in feeling good about themselves! Help individuals prepare for job and housing interviews by cutting hair and socializing with our clients at the Day Center. We are looking for licensed hairstylists with access to their own tools and cleaning supplies.
Hours: The Day Center is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 3pm and Wednesday 9am to 12pm. This volunteer position has a lot of flexibility within our open hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Cutting hair with friendliness and style!
Socializing with clients in the Day Center.
Assisting in maintaining a clean and organized Day Center space.
Helping solicit hair product donations for clients.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Interest and excitement in supporting people’s confidence and style. Comfort in talking with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Enjoyment of building community relationships, patience, problem-solving ability, dependability, organization. Must be a licensed hairstylist with access to own tools and cleaning supplies. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and pass a background check.

Description
The HIV Services program operates a Day Center which offers a place of care, respect, and support for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The Center provides nutritious meals on-site daily, as well as counseling and a variety of critical support services. HIV Services also provides high quality home-delivered meals to homebound clients through our Daily Bread Express (DBX) program.
