Help a person live the life they want. Missoula Senior Corps at Missoula Aging Services is in need of Companions. If you are age 55 and older and can offer 15 or more hours per week, you could qualify to receive a Tax-Free Stipend for helping people live independently.
We are looking for good hearted people to be a companion to a person in need of your help. No formal training or experience necessary. You will receive orientation, training and the gift that gives back.
Give the gift of friendship and help seniors maintain their independence. Typical Senior Companion tasks include:
- Supplying transportation to medical appointments & grocery shopping
- Assisting homebound veterans
- Preparing nutritious meals
- Simple chores, such as light housekeeping
- Connecting clients to additional resources
- Reading and playing games
BENEFITS: Volunteering improves overall heath and wellness, Increases physical fitness, mental functionality, sense of purpose, and social connection. All this while reducing depression, chronic pain, stress, and social isolation.
Other benefits include excess insurance coverage while volunteering, tax free stipend allowing no cost to you, orientation and monthly trainings. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY you just need to want to do this.
Senior Companions are matched to available clients within the Missoula City and County areas.

Description
Help adults in need of extra assistance
Through the Senior Companion Program, people age 55 and older provide assistance and friendship to frail older adults and their caregivers, adults with disabilities, and those with terminal illnesses. Senior Companions usually serve four to six clients on a weekly basis, serving 20 hours a week. If you are interested in being a Senior Companion, you must meet income eligibility requirements, and for your time you will receive a modest, tax-free stipend to offset the cost of volunteering. Other benefits include reimbursement for transportation and accident and liability insurance while on duty. Pre-Service and monthly training sessions provided.
