What you Need to Know about the Board of Directors of Operation Xcel
Approach to Governance
We believe that the Board's role is to ensure that Operation Xcel establishes and maintains the trust of the community by being clear in its mission, prudent and ethical in its activities, and accountable for its actions. Our meetings focus on planning, policy-making, and assessing our progress.

At OPERATION XCEL, we are committed to honesty and integrity in all of our programmatic and operational responsibilities. Our guiding principle is governed compassion and commitment to those who serve with us and to those we serve.
Term of office:
1 to 2 years. Elected at Annual General Meeting. Directors may serve a maximum of three consecutive terms (2 to 6 years). After being in office for three consecutive terms, an individual must take off for 1 year before holding another elected office on the Board of Directors. Directors may be appointed by the Board to fill vacancies until the next Annual General Meeting.
We require a time commitment of an average of 4 to 8 hours per month for board meetings, committee meetings, and special events, including preparation time. Board meetings last 1 to 1.5 hours. We do most of our work in meetings. We cannot do a good job or meet deadlines without full participation from members.
The full board is scheduled to meet monthly or 12 times a year. Schedule is determined by board member availability. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is one of the meetings.
Committees meet at the pleasure of committee members in order to accomplish certain tasks by established deadlines. Attendance is essential for the committees to do their work.
Board Members are expected to contribute to the organization commiserate with their commitment to the mission of the organization and their personal ability to give. In addition, directors are expected to assist with annual and special campaigns. Some board members participate in fundraising events and make presentations to funders and donors.
