Memory Pillows are to provide comfort and a special connection to help one grieve the loss of their family member or friend. Our volunteer will need an article of clothing from the patient (family member) that has passed and we ask that they choose a piece that holds significance or special memories. It could be a favorite sweatshirt, pajama top, dress, flannel shirt, or even a bathrobe. No matter what the article is, it should be something that will remind the family of their loved one. The pillow is something tangible and so personal that they may still smell "mom" because it was her favorite dress or "dad" because it was his favorite shirt. We hope that these pillows become treasured family heirlooms. Each pillow will be handcrafted by an Evercare volunteer and will have the patient’s name and date placed on the back when possible. Hospice is committed to providing comfort and care, even during the bereavement stage, and we hope these pillows will offer the same warmth. General Rule: Limit one pillow per household but this will be decided on a case by case basis. Delivery times will vary depending on the volunteer’s personal schedule.
