Help serve the 49,000 residents of Marin who worry about their next meal, and help reduce the millions of pounds of methane-generating food waste that enter Marin's landfills each year. At ExtraFood.org our volunteers pick up excess fresh food from Marin County, California businesses -- grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, and farmer's markets -- and immediately deliver it to Marin nonprofits that serve our community's most vulnerable children, adults, and families. In four years our staff and volunteers have organized, recovered and delivered over 2 million pounds of food from 200+ donors to 100 sites across Marin. We reach more than 6,500 people every month with deliveries of nutritious, fresh food.
You can sign up for pickups/deliveries ("food trips") that are most convenient for you -- a trip will take 30 to 60 minutes of your time. You can "own" regular food trips, sign up for trips online on an ad-hoc basis, or both. For more info, visit www.ExtraFood.org.
