Title: Daily Bread Express In-Home Meal Delivery Driver
Team: EMO Nutrition Services/Daily Bread Express
Reports to: Daily Bread Express Program Assistant Manager/Coordinator
Description of Role: This position makes it possible for the Daily Bread Express to achieve its aims of
1. Providing nutritional support to people living with HIV in the Portland Metro area - Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, Clark, Columbia, and Yamhill Counties - who are primarily homebound.
2. Decreasing social isolation among program participants.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Pick up delivery items - individual frozen meals; fruit, milk, bread; and/or Ensure - at the base of operations: 4800 NE 72 nd Avenue (former location of Luther Memorial Church).
· Drive assigned route, delivering items to the corresponding program participants.
· Check in with program participants if they desire contact. Some participants only want to receive the meals but knowing someone is going to come to their place of residence each week can still be emotionally supportive. Other people might want to chat for a bit.
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Report any concerns regarding participant well-being or suspicions of abuse/neglect to the program coordinator to follow-up.
· Report any participant feedback to the program coordinator for follow-up.
· Report time and mileage log to the coordinator each week.
· Report any concerns regarding your own well-being or safety to the coordinator.
Skills/Qualifications Needed:
· Dependable
· High Frustration Tolerance/Patient
· Strong ability to solve problems
· A heart for people
· Current driver’s license, insurance and access to a vehicle
· Comfort with driving in new/unknown areas
· Ability to pass a background check administered by the State of Oregon
Desired Experience (a bonus but not required):
· Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
Training: Orientation and training will be provided by the program. If desired, new DBX delivery drivers can shadow the coordinator on a delivery route.
Time Commitment: Daily Bread Express Delivery Drivers are asked to commit to 6 months of driving each week with allowance for vacations and time away. Routes vary and on average take 1-3 hours to complete. Routes are assigned based on driver preference in consultation with the program coordinator. As the volunteer pool grows, drivers may be able to share a route and rotate their delivery weeks with each other. Substitute positions are also available and operate on-call/as needed.
**At this time we are unable to reimburse volunteers for fuel, mileage and parking.

Description
The HIV Services program operates a Day Center which offers a place of care, respect, and support for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The Center provides nutritious meals on-site daily, as well as counseling and a variety of critical support services. HIV Services also provides high quality home-delivered meals to homebound clients through our Daily Bread Express (DBX) program.

- Volunteer delivery drivers for the Daily Bread Express usually spend 1-3 hours per week making deliveries. Routes/schedules are confirmed based on volunteer preference.
- The background check may require fingerprints depending on a volunteer's history of living outside of Oregon. Funds are available for the cost of fingerprints.
