We're looking for caring adults just like you. Chapter 510 volunteers are focused on developing expository and creative writing by students. We support a small, hardworking cohort of MetWest High School 9th and 10th graders and their amazing teachers. Join us for the 2017-2018 school year. Chapter 510 provides training and on-site support for all volunteers.

Mission Statement
Chapter 510 is a made-in-Oakland youth writing, bookmaking & publishing center. Our teaching artists and volunteers work side by side with educators to provide a safe space and supportive community so Black, brown, and queer youth ages 8-19 can bravely write.
Description
Founded by parents, educators, writers, and youth-serving organizations, Chapter 510 shares a vision for Oakland as a place where children are seen and their voices are valued, where teachers are honored and supported, and where we expand young people’s belief in their own possibilities. At Chapter 510 we believe students and teachers should not have to do it on their own.
