Want to become an organizer for housing justice? join Tenants Together as an organizing intern and help strengthen our communities in the fight against gentrification!
Tenants Together, California's Statewide Organization for Renters' Rights (based in San Francisco), seeks a qualified and enthusiastic organizing intern to help out on our statewide and local organizing campaigns. Organizing interns will work directly with staff to help tenants calling our hotline learn more about how to organize tenants' associations and unions in their local area, help develop training materials, and do outreach for member orientations and more advanced trainings.
This work is vital to communities with no rent control or eviction protections that are ruled by big real estate interests, like Stockton and Fresno, where Tenants Together is often the only support tenants have in fighting back against unjust evictions, rent increases and uninhabitable conditions. Apply today!
To apply, email you resume to Sara@tenantstogether.org
Qualifications: organizing experience working directly with impacted communities & bilingual in Spanish/English.
Commitment : 5-10 hours per week, 6 month minimum at our office in the Mission ( 474 Valencia St #156)
As a Tenants Together intern you will play a key role in defending housing as a human right by supporting those most impacted by the housing crisis to assert their rights and protect their homes and families.
You will learn invaluable skills to help your community and become part of the fight for housing justice. We aim to help build an anti-racist, feminist, multiracial, anti-oppressive tenant movement. This means we do not tolerate racism, homophobia, ableism, transphobia, islamophobia, classism, cis-sexism, or sexism. We also hope to continue working to make this event, and our office, as accessible as possible to everyone who is interested in being part of the fight for housing justice.
Accessibility: The building/ office is wheelchair accessible and is 2 city blocks from 16th and Mission BART . We will be taking regular breaks throughout the training. We have a gender inclusive bathroom. We are not currently a scent-free working space. If you have any accessibility concerns, requests or comments please email sara@tenanstogether.org
