Do you have time on Thursday mornings to make phone calls?
Volunteers are matched with patients for up to 4 hours per week of much needed relief for caregivers in private homes . You may be asked to play cards, read out loud, watch TV or simply provide presence. Volunteers act as companions only; they do not provide any physical cares or transfer assistance.
Due to the COVID pandemic, volunteers must wear a surgical mask and face shield whenever in the presence of patients or family members. Masks and face shields are provided by hospice.
Volunteers are needed throughout the Twin Cities and greater metro areas. The highest needs are in outlying areas. Volunteers choose their assignments per geographic preference.

Description
When life expectancy is limited, AccentCare Fairview Hospice staff and volunteers help patients and caregivers focus on improving the quality of their remaining days. Hospice provides medical, emotional, social and spiritual care. We bring these services to the familiar setting of patients' own homes whenever possible. The same kind of care may also be given at a long-term care site, a group home, an assisted living site or a residential hospice.
