  • Refer complaints in a courteous manner to the Manager of the Day

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; at ease with people of all ages

  • Dependability

  • Ability to exhibit great patience with school-aged children and their adult chaperones

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

  • Comfortable working in low lighting (Usher work)

Training: Provided by Guest Services

Schedule: SCHOOL YEAR (October-June): Weekly 4-hour shifts available Tuesdays-Sundays, ideally 10 AM-2 PM.
SUMMER (June-August): Weekly 4-hour shifts mostly available Saturdays and Sundays, but there would be some weekdays, as well.

Sidebar: Opportunities exist to serve as a Ticket Agent, as well, but this would be on rare occasions and only as the volunteer is comfortable. See Ticket Agent position description for more information about what the job would entail.

Please visit marylandsciencecenter.org for more information and an application form. All volunteers must submit an application, and volunteer appointments are by interview only. All applicants (over the age of 18) must complete a background check and orientation session, prior to volunteering.
