Art & Science at Compass (ASC) islooking for adult volunteers to pair up one-to-one with Cambridge Public School students in a program that builds engagement with science and with a basic science practice.

Participants who join the Art & Science at Compass volunteer team will learn the elements of nature journaling from a drawing instructor who is also a professional science illustrator. They will apply this training to work with fourth-grade public elementary students enrolled in a summer learning program called Summer Compass. The program includes two trips to Fresh Pond Reservation, across the street from the school.

Art & Science at Compass enables students and their volunteer mentors to experience this significant and exciting habitat and its biodiversity through nature journaling; it also instills enthusiasm for and skills of close scientific observation.
