Compass Inn Museum

Compass Inn Museum and Ligonier Valley Historical Society is looking for enthusiastic individuals who are interested in history and culture. Whether you are comfortable hosting tours or would prefer to help out behind the scenes, if you are looking for a rewarding, enriching experience, then volunteering with us is for you.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

Being a docent - Our docents perform the important function of introducing, teaching, and deepening the experience of the Museum for guests of all ages. Docents engage guests by leading tours and creating discussion in the rooms and out buildings of the Museum.

Staffing the Museum Shop which includes taking admissions, answering questions and making sales.

Helping with light office work such as filing, collating, and getting mailings ready.

Assisting in the archive and document room

Gardening and light maintenance.

Becoming a member of fundraising & special event committees.

Schedules are based upon the volunteer’s availability and the Society's and Museum’s needs. Volunteers normally contribute one day every week or every other week.

Our mission is to discover, collect, and preserve the history of the Ligonier Valley area. We showcase life during the 19th century through the operation of Compass Inn Museum. Period-attired docents bring to life what it was like for the Armor family to work and live at the Inn.
