Job Title: Visual Media Volunteer
Gain videography experience, see your work on a professional website, and make a positive impact for an important social issue!
JOB SUMMARY
Project: Create a "Video Snapshot" of a child who is waiting for an adoptive home. These are short (1-3 minute) segments that showcase the child’s personality, communication style, interests, talents, etc. We have found video to be the most effective way of genuinely depicting what makes each child unique. These videos are uploaded to our website to be accessed by potential adoptive families, allowing them to become familiar with a particular child and hopefully sparking their interest in learning more. Examples of a video snapshot can be found on our website at www.MAREinc.org.
Agency: The Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to find safe, nurturing, permanent families for every child in Massachusetts foster care that cannot be reunited with his/her birth family. We do this by recruiting, educating, supporting and advocating for families throughout the adoption process.
Commitment: Film at least one video snapshot. Volunteer should be able to manage the technical aspects of filming independently. Volunteer able to manage post-production independently is a plus. Videographers are credited on our website, and footage may be used for a personal portfolio.
*Please note that this volunteer opportunity will require travel within Massachusetts unless you are interested in remotely editing. *

About Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE)
Location:
19 Needham Street, Suite 206, Newton, MA 02461, US
Mission Statement
The Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) finds adoptive homes for children and teens in foster care.
Description
MARE works mostly behind the scenes to
- DEVELOP a PROFILE of each local youth in need of adoption,
- DESIGN a targeted plan to recruit potential parents for each waiting child,
- INFORM adults about the general need for adoptive families,
- EDUCATE prospective families about the adoption process, supports and benefits,
- MATCH prospective parents with specific children awaiting adoption,
- MOVE youth from temporary foster care to permanent family life.
MARE is the organization behind the Wednesday's Child profiles on WBZ TV and Sunday's Child in the Boston Sunday Globe, as well as nearly 30 other media outlets. We create the Heart Gallery photography exhibit of children in need of adoption. We host Adoption Parties to give children awaiting adoption the chance to get together with their peers, and to meet adults interested in adoption in a low key setting.
