ORGANIZATION: Lutheran Social Service of MN

AmeriCorps Legacy Corps for Veterans and Military Families is looking for individuals to service as respite volunteers throughout your community. Our volunteers provide friendship to an older adult which allows the family caregiver a well-deserved break to run errands or rest.

***During these times of Covid-19, the need for respite, connection, and meaningful friendship is greater than ever. We are not providing in-home visits, rather through phone and virtual reassurance. Please join in helping reach out to caregivers and their loved ones during this time and transition to in-home visits with us when we are all able.***

  • No experience or diploma required - we’ll provide all necessary training
  • Volunteers receive monthly living allowance and end of service education award
  • Time commitment of 300 or 450 hours a year (6-8 hours a week)
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Older adult and companion are carefully matched based on individual needs and interests
  • Must be 17+ years old to volunteer

Description

LSS is the largest, statewide non-profit social service agency in Minnesota with over 2, 400 employees who serve in 300 communities. It is owned by the six Minnesota synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Services are divided into four divisions:
