Provide 11th hour support to patients who are actively dying (in the last 24-48 hours of life.)
Sit with patients in their own homes or skilled care facilities throughout the Twin Cities metro area.
Our 11th hour volunteers support in a variety of ways; from giving caregivers a much needed reprieve to supporting patients who may be alone. Our 11th hour volunteers provide a calm presence for agitated patients and reassurance for overwhelmed caregivers.
11th hour volunteers need to have at least 6 months of end of life experience (as a caregiver, volunteer, or professional.) It is common for 11th hour volunteers to be asked to sit with patients overnight but daytime assistance may also be requested.

Description
When life expectancy is limited, AccentCare Fairview Hospice staff and volunteers help patients and caregivers focus on improving the quality of their remaining days. Hospice provides medical, emotional, social and spiritual care. We bring these services to the familiar setting of patients' own homes whenever possible. The same kind of care may also be given at a long-term care site, a group home, an assisted living site or a residential hospice.
