Volunteers in Spy Pond Park
Arlington/Belmont Crew team members wield their gardening tools

  • We need volunteers once monthly April through October for Work Saturdays 8-10 am in Spy Pond Park. Rain date is the next day, same time with notification by 8am Saturday via email to those who have preregistered. Please let us know if you're available for the rain date, the next day, Sunday 1-3 p.m.
  • Additional dates will be released monthly and verification available through online means such as x2VOL or the Do Something Club or send us your own form for signature afterwards.

    Preregistration is required by expressing your interest on volunteermatch.org that is sent to us. If you want documentation for community service credit, you must register also at www.givebacktime.org since we are not handling any paper at the event due to requirements under covid-19 by the Town of Arlington.

    Download and sign the liability waiver, required once each year (parent signature for those volunteers under 18 yrs.) available at: http://www.friendsofspypondpark.org/NewsLetters/liability%20waiver.pdf

    Scan or take a photo of the waiver, and send it to us via fspp@friendsofspypondpark.org by 6 pm the Friday before the event,

    Wear a mask and gloves, dress for the weather and use sunscreen, if necessary,

    Come supplied with an old fork for digging, small plastic bag(s)for litter and a rake for grooming the tot lot, if you have one.

    Other opportunities involve representing FSPP at local meetings, helping create a library display, writing articles for our newsletter, helping with mailings, making phone calls, doing outreach and networking on social media. We welcome people to attend our Zoom planning meetings that are held every other month February-December on Sundays 7-9 pm. People on our mailing list will be notified. Ongoing protection and beautification of the park
Preservation of open green space and wild life
Prevention and reduction of pond pollution
Use of the park as a community and cultural resource

There are volunteer opportunities on Work Days 1/mo. and Fun Days usually once a year posted on our website. The park is located between Pond Lane and Linwood Street in East Arlington, MA
