Volunteers in Spy Pond Park
Arlington/Belmont Crew team members wield their gardening tools

Please review all directions below:

  • We need volunteers for Work Saturdays 8-10 am in Spy Pond Park. Rain date is the next day, 1-3 pm with notification by 8 am Saturday via email to those who have preregistered. Let us know of your interest and if you're available for the rain date, the next day, Sunday 1-3 p.m.

  • Additional dates for next year will be released in February and verification available through online means such as x2VOL, the Do Something Club, or via your own shared google form sent to us for signature afterwards.

    Preregistration is required by expressing your interest on volunteermatch.org that is sent to us. If you want documentation for community service credit, you must send in a shared google doc. for us to sign, since we are not handling any paper at the event to facilitate the process.
  • Download and sign the liability waiver, required once each year (parent signature for those volunteers under 18 yrs.) available at: http://www.friendsofspypondpark.org/NewsLetters/liability%20waiver.pdf
  • Scan or take a photo of the waiver, and send it to us via fsppvolunteer@gmail.com by 6 pm the Friday before the event,
  • Wear gloves, dress for the weather and use sunscreen, if necessary, and bring your own water to drink,
  • Come supplied with an old fork for digging, small plastic bag(s)for litter and a rake for grooming the tot lot, if you have one.
  • Other opportunities involve representing FSPP at local meetings, helping create a library display, writing articles for our newsletter, helping with mailings (Mailing Coordinator), assisting the Treasurer with acknowledgements, making phone calls, doing outreach and networking on social media. See more at: www.friendsofspypondpark.org. Leadership skills are valuable volunteer assets all year round for our organization. We welcome people to attend our Zoom planning meetings that are held every other month January-December on Sundays 7-9 pm. People on our mailing list will be notified. Let us know if you are interested in this aspect of our organization.

The Friends of Spy Pond Park is a nonprofit organization which supports the preservation, enhancement, and enjoyment of Spy Pond Park and Spy Pond as natural and community resources.

FSSP supports the
Ongoing protection and beautification of the park
Preservation of open green space and wild life
Prevention and reduction of pond pollution
Use of the park as a community and cultural resource

There are volunteer opportunities on Work Days 1/mo. and Fun Days usually once a year posted on our website. The park is located between Pond Lane and Linwood Street in East Arlington, MA
