ORGANIZATION: CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocate

Volunteers are needed to become advocates for abused and negelcted children involved in the juvenile court system. The CASA's goal is to help ensure that the child is always in a safe, nurturing place and that everything is being done to resolve problems and achieve permanency for the child as quickly as possible. CASAs act as the "eyes and ears" of the court on behalf of the child.

Mission Statement

The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program commissions community volunteers to serve as an effective voice in court for abused and neglected children, strengthening efforts to ensure that each child is living in a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.

Description

The CASA volunteer advocates for the best interest of the child. The CASA will assess the case by interviewing individuals involved and reviewing documents. The CASA provides a written report for each court hearing outlining the findings and facts, and providing recommendations. The CASA will monitor the case to determine if services are being provided and complied with, and to advise the Court if problems or concerns develop.
