Carbon monoxide is the #1 cause of accidental poisoning deaths.
Install alarms, and you could save lives!
Recently 400 carbon monoxide detectors and 800 smoke alarms were delivered to Healthy Homes, thanks to a grant from FEMA!
We are anxious to line up some volunteers for training to install the alarms. The volunteers will be sent to the homes of families we are currently serving. Flexible scheduling!

Description
The Healthy Homes Coalition of West Michigan is a community-based, nonprofit organization that provides direct-services to low-income households with children to address environemntal health hazards caused by substandard housing. Lead poisoning, asthma triggers, accidental injury, burns, poisonings, and poor indoor air quality are some of our concerns.
The organization offers one-on-one home assessments and support, educational classes, community awareness, and advocacy for sound policy and legislation.
We are a grassroots, storefront operation located in the heart of Grand Rapids' southeast side, with a staff of six. We especially welcome both college interns with a passion to learn and older adults interested in offering their life skills and experiences or exploring new opportunities.
