ORGANIZATION: FLATIRONS FOOD FILM FESTIVAL

8th Flatirons Food Film Festival

This film program consists of family-friend short films a live puppet-making class with Q&A and a master puppeteer instructor. The main task of the Chat Host is to relay viewer questions to the instuctor.

Process

  • Viewers watch the films and class through a screening page of the Festival's Virtual platform, which has chat functionality.
  • Instructor broadcasts from Zoom, which is connected to the Virtual Festival.
  • The films and class appear in the screening page.
  • Viewers use the screening page chat to ask their questions to the instructor
  • The instructor in Zoom cannot see the viewer questions.
  • The Chat Host views the screening page questions and enters them into the Zoom chat.

Opportunity description

Chat Host:
  • Gets oriented
  • Monitors chat from 15 minutes before the films to the end of the class
  • Responds to viewer chat questions and makes announcements, if necessary
  • During the class, relays chat questions to speakers.
For volunteers who are the chat hosts of three film programs, we will provide a Festival film pass. Otherwise, they will receive four film tickets for this program.

The mission of the Flatirons Food Film Festival is to celebrate food culture and community by hosting a series of films and events intended to entertain, educate, and inspire.

Description

The Flatirons Food Film Festival (Jan. 28-Feb. 5, www.flatironsfoodfilmfest.org) is an annual multi-day film festival in Boulder intended to bring together those interested in eating, food culture, agriculture, and food activism. We are a 501c3 non-profit that is in its 8th year.

The Festival will be virtual to keep our viewers safe and comfortable. This year's virtual Festival includes 13 programs of feature and short films about food, post-film discussions for nearly all programs, activities like a food trivia game night and a standalone discussion of local restaurants and the pandemic, and an art exhibition of art inspired by the films.
