ORGANIZATION: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier

The focus of this program is on creating mentoring relationships through various planned recreational, educational and cultural activities. Matches may play board games, shoot hoops, create arts & craft projects, enjoy a guest community speaker, participate in a group activity or simply talk about their day. A Big Brothers Big Sisters Coordinator is present at each meeting to help your relationships grow through guidance and support.

We create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We’re always looking for people eager to invest in the future of a child in their community. For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give (and receive) the invaluable gift of friendship.

Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters operates under the belief that in every child is incredible potential. We have been matching caring adults with local children for more than 45 years and have impacted the lives of over 11,000 youth. Big Brothers Big Sisters aims to make meaningful, monitored matches between volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 5 through young adulthood in Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier. These quality relationships are built on friendship and trust, and are proven to be a significant positive influence in the life of the child, and the volunteer.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Enterprise Charter School site in Buffalo meet weekly, Tuesday, from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM. This program requires a consecutive, 12-month commitment from volunteers.
