Position Title: Volunteer Tax Preparer

Purpose: VITA, or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, provides free tax preparation to low income families and individuals with an emphasis on promoting the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Volunteers will prepare, explain, and assist clients with tax returns and tax credits. All volunteers, regardless of tax preparation level, will receive free, IRS approved specialized training.



Key Responsibilities:
* Become certified tax preparers (training provided)
* Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels available
o Minimum level required: Basic
* Prepare and explain tax returns to clients
* Provide quality assurance
* Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

Desired Attributes:
* Bilingual (Spanish/English) desired, but not required
* Computer literate
* Ability to work independently and in teams
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Friendly, patient, and helpful demeanor
* Flexible and adaptable

Time Commitment:

During tax season, the weekly schedule will be: Wednesdays (2pm-8pm), Fridays (9am-4pm) and Saturdays (9am-4pm).

*Mandatory training begins January 2023
