CAAWS is run solely by unpaid volunteers and is governed by a Board of Directors. If you interact well with animals and people and have a few hours once a month to help find some kitties a home, then this is the job for you. As a Cat Adoption Day Volunteer you would help us do just that. Adoption days are every Saturday from 11:00 am to 3 pm at the CAAWS Building (6357 Quinn Dr.) You may stay for any portion of that time. We ask for you to help out at least once a month. We need help caring for the animals, greeting the public, helping the adoption councilors, answering questions (after training), and counseling adoptions (after advanced training.) Our Humane Education Volunteers go to elementary school classes or libraries with CAAWS dogs to teach responsible pet ownership, spay and neuter, and child safety. While o ur presentation last s approximately 30 minutes, we may talk to several classes on that day, in which case it might require up to 3 hours of your time . All teaching materials will be provided for you, and no training is necessary. You can give the presentation, assist the presenter or help with handling the CAAWS dog. You will need to do general clean up (sweeping, mopping, scooping liter, disinfecting), give medications if needed, feed, give fresh water, play, and love on all of our cats and kittens. We need volunteers, who are over the age of 18, to take care of our dogs during our evening dog shifts which start between 4 and 6 pm and last for 3-4 hours. Your responsibilities would be to feed, clean up after, exercise and love our dogs. Volunteers work in pairs and are required to do the same evening shift each week.
