The HALO Learning Center is committed to improving the lives of youth in need. It serves as a safe haven that fosters educational and emotional growth while equipping at-risk youth with the skills to become contributing members of their communities.

The HALO Learning Center is looking for an Apprenticeship Coordinator to oversee its newly created Apprenticeship Program. This position will report to the Director of the Learning Center, and will require 15-20 hours per week, including some evenings and the occasional weekend. The time frame for this Internship is one year.

The Coordinator will work closely with HALO Center youth in the application and orientation process for the Apprenticeship Program. This role will also work directly the Apprenticeship Program Mentors. This position will schedule and lead professional orientation and will maintain weekly contact with the Mentors. In order to build a rapport with the youth who will potentially become apprentices, the Coordinator will be expected to attend workshops in the Learning Center as part of his or her training. This position will also focus on building partnerships with area businesses who may be interested in hosting an apprentice and to recruit volunteers to serve as mentors. The Coordinator may occasionally be asked to attend meetings and recruiting events.

Candidates for this internship must exhibit strong organizational, writing and communications skills. Must also be highly motivated, enjoy brainstorming and take the initiative on all projects. Familiarity with the Kansas City area is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in networking and supervising.
