The HALO Foundation: Helping Art Liberate Orphans

The HALO Foundation mission is two fold. HALO Aware: A child who volunteers is twice as likely to volunteer as an adult. Educating American children on global poverty and giving them the tools to get involved by doing fundraisers for orphans worldwide has provided food, water, shelter, clothing, education, and art therapy to the orphans. It raises the self esteem of American children as they witness the difference they make. HALO Angel Art: A portion of the funds raised goes to providing art therapy programs for the orphans. These programs are essential to the development of children who have been abused and neglected. Selections of the orphans' artwork are then auctioned off in the US, proceeds go back to the orphans.

Mission Statement

The HALO Foundation is committed to enhancing living conditions and providing art therapy for orphans worldwide. HALO provides American youth with opportunities to learn philanthropy and volunteerism by seeing the world through the eyes of the less fortunate.

Orphans supported by HALO are provided food, water, shelter, clothing, education, and art therapy. HALO works with orphanages in Mexico, India, Uganda, Kenya, Nicaragua, and residential homes in the United States. Children from these homes submit their artwork to be sold at events in the United States to aid in raising funds for continued support.

This depends on the interest a person has in working with children and Mostly the people i associate with like working with orphans.

Being an adoptive Mom, I have visited orphanages. Once you have visited an orphanage, there is no way you can turn your back to helping orphans. Once you see their eyes when you don't pick them, once you hear their cries and there is no one to comfort them, once you have to walk away and not bring them all home with you, you can't forget, and the sound of their unanswered cries permeates your soul.

This is a wonderful organization to volunteer for. The people are great to work with and the children are truly inspiring. It's a great way for children [and adults] to become more philanthropic and more involved. Plus the art auction, boardbreakathon and other events are tons of fun!!
