During our Walk-In Program we are open to the public so anyone in need can come in and pick up groceries. We currently recruiting volunteers for Monday-Saturday. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday from 8am-11am, 9:15am-1:30pm or 11am-3:00 shift and Mondays, Wednesday and Friday 8am -1pm. Walk-In Sorters and Distributors may perform a variety of tasks: 1. Sorting food. This includes sorting canned or boxed items into crates based on food type, repackaging bulk items into smaller portions, or separating good product from bad product, and cleaning our sorting table. 2. Working on the line. This includes standing by the crates of food as clients shop through our line. The main duties include refilling crates with product, ensuring that clients take only the amount allowed, encouraging clients to shop quickly, helping clients reach product, and answering questions. 3. Cleaning. Cleaning projects may vary, but include: sweeping, mopping, moving crates of product, kitchen and break room clean up, breaking down cardboard for recycling, taking out the garbage, and taking bad product to the compost, as well as walking around the block and picking up any discarded product (so we can keep our neighbors happy!). Requirements: -Reliability -Ability to take and follow verbal directions -Ability to work in a team environment -Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment -Ability to stand, bend, lift, and grab with hands for a couple hours at a time -Willingness to sort, distribute, or clean up based on the needs of the food bank on any particular day -Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment -Cultural sensitivity.
