  • 3 people are interested

Indraloka Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organization focused on rescuing and caring for all species of animal. To do this work, we rely on many volunteers - animal feeders, caregivers, property maintenance, events, Now, we need someone to keep track of, and take care of, our fabulous volunteers! The Volunteer Coordinator would be responsible for the recruitment, orientation, skill development, retention, and recognition of our volunteers. This can be done, in part, remotely by phone and e-mail. Our primary need is for someone to be a central point for questions and scheduling (i.e. feeders and caregivers). You will also review our volunteer applications and set up training. We are working on changes to our website to provide a password protected calendar for scheduling and communication with our volunteers. The Coordinator will need to develop a retention and appreciation program. Any other ideas you might have would be eagerly considered! We are looking for a professional communicator with good people managing skills, a proactive work style, the ability to liaise with individual volunteers, project teams, and the sanctuary founder. This is an unpaid volunteer position at this time, however our fundraising goals will provide a stipend in the future.

Mission Statement

Indraloka Animal Sanctuary is named after the Sanskrit "heaven for the Gods", and is founded on two principles: 1) the earth herself and all life is sacred and 2) we are all related. Indraloka is a lifelong heaven on earth for animals that would otherwise be euthanized or slaughtered. We support rescue groups by giving safe sanctuary to animals they cannot place, and also rescue farm animals from cruelty. We purposefully take in old, injured, and sickly animals knowing they will end their earthly lives in our care, and view giving them a good death as a sacred act. Indraloka Animal Sanctuary seeks to educate the community, especially children, on ways in which we can better care for ourselves and the environment while helping animals in need. Our five core values inform every action that we take, every day: Reverence Mitakuye Oyasin (Lakota for "We are all related, we pray for all of our relatives") Joy Lovingkindness Mindfulness
