Position Overview: We are seeking enthusiastic Community Development Volunteer to join our team. As a Volunteer Ambassador, you will play a vital role in conducting community outreach to inform the public about the programs and services offered by Virginia Housing and Community Development Corporation. Your responsibilities will include speaking engagements at various community events, church groups, parent-teacher associations, and other community organizations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community service, excellent communication skills, and a desire to promote financial literacy, rental education, and homeownership.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach activities to promote VHCDC programs and services.
  • Represent VHCDC at community events, church groups, parent-teacher associations, and other community organizations.
  • Deliver presentations to raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy, rental education, and homeownership.
  • Engage with the community to identify needs and provide information on available resources.
  • Collaborate with the VHCDC team to develop outreach strategies and materials.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving outreach efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and report on outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for community service and helping others.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of financial literacy, rental education, and homeownership is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Reliable transportation is required.

Time Commitment:

  • Flexible, part-time commitment
  • Approximately 5-10 hours per month, depending on availability
