Position Title: President/CEO

Non-Profit Pro bono Opportunity | Remote | Flexible Schedule

Department / Reports To: Board of Directors

Collaboration: Executive Leadership, Administrative Departments, Project Leaders, Board Members

Position Summary:

Chemists Without Borders is seeking an experienced Executive President/CEO to join our global network of scientists and enthusiastic teams of committed individuals. As a President, the executive will be expected to develop a growth strategy, provide operational management support, strengthen team coordination and empowerment, and make a difference with impact-based leadership. This role is one of the most senior positions in the organization and would report to and participate with the Board of Directors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general management duties to ensure that the organization makes consistent and timely progress in achieving its mission.
  • Provide inclusive, transparent, and empowering executive leadership to support the organization’s mission as defined by the Bylaws and Board of Directors
  • Attend Board meetings (in person or online, depending on location)
  • Establish goals, objectives, and strategic and operational plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors, executive teams, volunteers, and project leaders.
  • Manage people and operations, while also having oversight of finances, budgeting, fundraising, and project proposals
  • Organize, motivate, and mentor internal team leaders.
  • Drive organizational change and willingness to get things done.
  • Reevaluate, rebuild programs/functions and partner in successful change management.
  • Execute an annual development plan with agreed fundraising and membership goals through a multi-level/faceted development approach to revenue generation.
  • Formulate a comprehensive, long-term strategy for expanding membership and ensuring the financial stability of the organization.

What we look for in the applicants:

  • Progressive years of Leadership and Senior Management experience; successful P&L management; President /CEO/COO experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to increase commitment, purpose-driven teams and successful projects through leadership and empowerment.
  • Desire to make a difference and participate at all levels, engaging and empowering teams and leading the organization effectively.
  • Proven experience, ability, and willingness to lead a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) with a focus on core values, Purpose, and Sustainable impact.
  • Entrepreneurial/Independent thinker with an appetite to take on a high level of responsibility.
  • Proven ability and desire to manage all aspects of a NPO.
  • Knowledge and understanding of global environmental challenges.
  • Proven experience in fundraising and working with donors.
