The primary roles of a Board Member are:

  1. to contribute to the fulfillment of the organization’s mission, and
  2. to carry out the functions of the office of Board Member and/or officer as stated in the Bylaws, and
  3. to focus on the development of policies. This role is separate and distinct from the role of Executive Director, who determines the means of implementation.
  • Board Members are expected to establish as a high priority their attendance at all meetings of the Board and committees on which they serve.
  • Board Member are expected to be prepared to discuss the issues and business addressed at scheduled meetings, having read the agenda and all background materials relevant to the topics at hand.
  • Board Members are expected to serve on at least one standing committee, to attend all meetings, and participate in the accomplishment of its objectives.

Mission: TIHAN provides community resources and caring support so that people with HIV can live well. Through education, we work to encourage everyone to get tested, get involved, and reduce the stigma of HIV. Vision: Creating a community where everyone knows their HIV status, and where every person - regardless of status - is supported and affirmed to live as well as possible and stay healthy and engaged in the community.

TIHAN is a non-profit located in Tucson, Arizona that provides services to people living with HIV/AIDS to empower them to live well. Our mission is to use education and support to reduce stigma and sustain hope for people living with HIV. Our main values are education, service, and advocacy.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Typical monthly time commitment: 10-15 hours per month, largely spent attending board and committee meetings, completing special assignments, and participating in TIHAN fundraising and events. Time commitment varies throughout the year.
  • Preferred: previous experience serving on a non-profit board of directors, fundraising experience, must be nominated and approved per process set forth in TIHAN’s bylaws. Financial support ranging from $200-$4000/year
