Pets and their handlers must be certified by Pet Partners or Therapy Dogs International
and are required to be up to date on vaccinations. After (human) volunteers have completed orientation and training as a Direct Patient Care Volunteer and pets have a behavioral assessment by the Volunteer Department, they can make visits to patients at home or nursing facilities. Hours are flexible, depending on your schedule.

Description

Hospice affirms life. Hospice exists to provide aupport and care for persons living with a serious illness so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. Hospice is specialized care that provides supportive care directed towards enhancing quality of life. Together with the patient and family, the interdisciplinary caregiving team focuses on the individual's physical symptoms as well as the emotional and spiritual concerns of the patient and family.

Understanding that it is a privilege to accompany patients and families on this unique journey, hospice strives to uphold the patient's personal dignity and to ever sustain hope.
