Britepaths’ Financial Empowerment Program and our work at the Financial Empowerment Center at South County (FECSoCo) are possible because of the dedication of our volunteers! Volunteer positions include: Financial Coaches and Mentors, Financial Empowerment Workshop Instructors, Spanish-speaking Virtual Administrative Assistant and Community Engagement Volunteers.

Our Financial Coaches and Mentors provide virtual, one-on-one client services. The length of one-on-one client engagement ranges from one session to multiple sessions, to 6 months or more. Typical client meetings last 1 hour. Our workshops are offered virtually or in-person at a community partner’s location within the DC metro area, typical length of class is 1 hour. Our Community Ambassadors represent Britepaths and our programs at community engagement events.

Britepaths provides training, support and the tools volunteers need to help individuals and families in Northern Virginia better manage their finances and achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. We are seeking volunteers who live in the DC metro area.

Our Current Volunteer Needs Include:

  • Bilingual volunteers to teach virtual and in-person personal finance classes, provide one-on-one financial coaching and mentorship to our clients. Needed languages include Spanish, Dari, Pashto, and Arabic.
  • Certified Financial Planners or Accredited Financial Counselors for our financial mentoring program.
  • Community Engagement Volunteers to represent our programs at community events (must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) virtual administrative volunteers for client follow-up.

Note: For those interested in volunteering as a financial coach, mentor or instructor, we hold virtual group new volunteer orientations 3-4 times per year and provide one-on-one volunteer training. You must have a solid financial background and strong interest in teaching financial education either to individuals or in a group setting.

In 2024, Britepaths is celebrating our 40th anniversary. Since 1984, we have provided help and hope to Northern Virginia residents facing economic crisis through programs to stabilize families, foster personal empowerment, and support the needs of children. Our life-changing programs equip individuals and families with the resources and skills they need to withstand a financial emergency and begin a journey toward lasting independence and thriving.
