Help clean up the environment by conducting a physical assessment, doing monthly chemical testing, and/or a semi-annual macro invertebrate assessment of an assigned waterway in Schuylkill County.

For volunteers age 55 and above.

Chemical testing and macro assessment are conducted using protocols designed by the Environmental Alliance for Senior Involvement and accepted by the PA Department of Environmental Protection.

This is a flexible activity, allowing the volunteer to determine the day of the month and the time of the assignment.

Description

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over twenty hours per week, serving through schools, day care centers, hospitals, environmental and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
