Are you currently enrolled in a medical educational program such as nursing, social work, or physical therapy that requires volunteering hours as part of your degree program? If so, we can work together! Our hospice patients and families would love your visits and volunteering with us will satisfy the degree program requirement! In addition to fulfilling this component of your degree program you would gain valuable experience in the field and make connections with employers in the industry. It's a win-win-win!

Enhabit Hospice of Austin seeks volunteers in Central and South Austin, Westlake Hills, Bee Cave, Kyle, Buda, and San Marcos. We have opportunities for students to provide companionship to our patients who are receiving hospice care for a life limiting illness or for those who would like to assist with clerical work in our office.

About Enhabit Home Health - Hospice

Location:

7901 E. Riverside Dr., Bldg. 2, Ste 120, Austin, TX 78744, US

Mission Statement

A Better Way To Care is our motto and guiding principle. The mission of Enhabit Hospice is to bring superior and compassionate medical and supportive care to our patients and caregivers in a sensitive, responsive, and attentive manner. It is our mission to offer peace of body, mind, and spirit by caring for the dying, comforting the grieving, and educating the community.

Description

When facing a life-limiting diagnosis, you can trust end-of-life care to Enhabit Hospice Services. Our compassionate end-of-life care is provided in the patient’s home, whether that is a home address, nursing home, assisted living community, independent living community or other location. It focuses on the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of both the individual patient and our patients’ loved ones: caregivers, spouses, children, extended family and friends.

We emphasize dignity and peace, controlling pain and other symptoms so the patient can remain as alert and comfortable as possible. Our medical social workers help the family understand and cope with loss; we can also call upon non-denominational chaplains to provide additional spiritual support and grief counseling.

As a Hospice Volunteer you will be given choices as to how much and what types of things you want to do. Here are just a few specific ways Hospice Volunteers can help: Provide companionship and socialization; Help with general office support; Play games, read and listen to music with patients; Write a journal or life story with patients to give to family; Bring your own special talent to share with our patients.

Enhabit values the generosity of our volunteers and provides training and on-going support.
