F.R.I.E.N.D.S., Inc. is a non-profit sponsor-a-horse program. F.R.I.E.N.D.S.,Inc. rescues EIA (Equine infectious Anemia) positive horses, which would otherwise be destroyed. We are a quarantine facility with a large herd of horses on approximately 60 acres. Our facility works closely with veterinarians and researchers hoping for a cure or vaccine for EIA. This condition is NOT contagious to humans so feel comfortable to help us and the horses! All donated funds go to the care of our horses which are fully able to enjoy a normal lifespan and be loved, cared for and ridden. Our ranch provides an alternative to euthanasia for the horses as well as an opportunity for our members to enjoy the companionship of a horse, which is otherwise too expensive for many people. We have numerous functions where the whole family can participate. On Saturdays the gate is open and first time volunteers should call LYNNE MANDRY AT 954-916-9847 about scheduling a time to come out for the initial visit at which time you will receive the volunteer packet and all needed information regarding the volunteer program and your assignment to specific tasks and times that are compatible with your needs and schedule. You may download forms from our web site as well prior to visiting. We need help with the feeding of the horses as well as other ranch chores. CALL LYNNE MANDRY FOR THIS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY 954 916-9847. The feeding help starts at 9AM and is usually completed by noon, but don't forget to call Lynne prior to coming out for your first time. If Tuesdays or Thursdays are a better day for you to volunteer, we also have a critical need on those days for watering and stall cleaning which begins about 3:30 until completed! For this opportunity call BOBBY BARWICK prior to coming out at 954-609-5943 if you can volunteer on Tuesdays or Thursdays and he can meet you at the ranch on those days at an agreed upon time 3:30 or later.
