Emmaus is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency shelter and affordable permanent housing for men, women, and children facing homelessness. Emmaus is currently recruiting enthusiastic, qualified volunteers to assist with a six-week summer enrichment program called Emmaus Explorers that will be open to school-aged children residing at the Emmaus Family Shelter. Emmaus Explorers will provide these kids the opportunity to improve their math and reading skills, build rockets while learning about space, participate in Olympics Day events, visit the zoo, and more!
The program will meet three afternoons a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1 pm to 4 pm), and each day will focus on different hands-on educational topics including art/science, health/wellness, and math/reading. There will also be exciting family field trips and family enrichment evenings. Every Emmaus Explorers activity is designed to make learning interesting and fun for the children in Emmaus programs, and we will need the help of enthusiastic volunteers to make this a summer they will never forget! We are looking for volunteer who can commit to roughly 4 hours a week (preferably the same afternoon each week) and are over 16 years old. Volunteer applications must be completed by Monday, June 20 th.
