ORGANIZATION: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation hosts a monthly Kids Klub where kids come to the Discovery Center for hands on lessons and crafts about science and naturalism. We have about 35 kids, and only one teacher. We need assistants to help the teacher with the lessons, crafts and activities. Time is 9am - 10:15am on Saturdays, once a month. The dates are below. Must be 18 years and older, and must meet with the Director of Education or Kids Klub teacher prior to volunteering. The lessons are fun, short, and if you like kids, an excellent volunteer opportunity.

Mission Statement

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF) was established as a non-profit corporation in 1990 to conserve, restore and enhance the environmental features of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, marsh, wetlands, and watershed areas. The AHLF operates the lovely Lagoon Discovery Center at 1580 Cannon Road in Carlsbad, where they holds numerous environmental educational programming every year.

Description

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation's objective is to:

-Advocate for the lagoon, promoting and assuring future lagoon vitality

-Promote balanced recreational and commercial uses of the lagoon and wetlands

-Provide strong support for public access, trails and recreational opportunities

-Develop and promote, through The Lagoon Discovery Center, educational programs to enhance community and visitor awareness and understanding of water resource and watershed-related environmental issues.
