ORGANIZATION: Satellite Affordable Housing Associates

Do you enjoy knitting? Would you like to share your love of knitting with others? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of seniors in your community? Volunteer to lead a knitting circle for seniors living in Casa Montego, an affordable housing property in Walnut Creek!

Residents of Casa Montego are looking for someone to facilitate a 1x per month or 2x per month knitting group where they can learn how to knit or refresh their knowledge of knitting, enjoy building community over a fun and calming activity, and make items that they can donate to people in need.

The volunteer would need to be able and willing to work with individuals of all levels of knitting ability, including those who have never knitted before, those who learned how to knit in the past and are looking to refresh their skills, and those who are experienced knitters. Additionally, the volunteer should be patient and willing to work with those of differing physical abilities (such as individuals with arthritis or limited hand mobility) and those who speak limited English.

Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to apply! Previous knitting experience is required, and previous teaching ability is preferred. The ability to speak Mandarin, Russian, or Farsi is not required but is a plus.
