Position: Interpreter (English/Cantonese) Schedule: Thursdays at 10:30am (Flexible) We are looking for Cantonese interpreters to provide translation Coffee and Conversation Hours. The residents at Oak Street are gathering once a month to share stories across languages. They are learning to use interpreters and tell their stories. This is about an hour and is a super friendly group of people. Ideally, we are looking for a volunteer to attend on-going, but if you could only attend one, that is also welcomed. SAHA serves a very diverse demographic of seniors in the East Bay, a large percentage of which have limited English-speaking proficiency. The volunteer will help make programs and materials accessible to our diverse resident populace.

Do you enjoy exercising and teaching others to live healthier lives? Volunteer to lead a yoga class for residents living at SAHA's Shattuck property in Berkeley! We are looking for a volunteer to teach once a week. Time and day are flexible. Through leading a yoga class, you will help to give seniors and outlet for physical and spiritual activity and help them to enrich their overall wellness. The volunteer will prepare an agenda for each class and lead residents through various exercises while providing positive feedback and support. If you're looking to make a difference in your community, this is a wonderful opportunity to gain teaching experience with students who are eager to learn. Requirements: Ongoing SAHA Community Volunteers must commit to volunteer once a week for a minimum of 4 months, and must complete a volunteer orientation, volunteer forms and background screening prior to beginning their placement. Do you want to help low-income seniors overcome technological barriers? Volunteer at our Manzanita Family Apartments in Napa. We are looking for a volunteer who is available weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays, from 2pm-3pm. Many of SAHA’s seniors living in affordable housing want to learn how to use their technology and have very little knowledge of how to operate and navigate a computer, a tablet and/or a smartphone.
