Home repair

Are you The Friend Who Fixes Things? Squeaky chairs, sticky doors, leaky faucets, setting up a portable a/c unit - do those words evoke an "I can help" response in you? You may find great fulfillment in joining our volunteer team.

Wider Horizons members are dedicated to living in our community and building interdependence. As the years go by, little repairs that we used to take for granted get harder to tackle. With your help now and then, we can continue to thrive in our homes safely and comfortably, and in turn give back to the community we share.

As a Minor Home Repair Helper volunteer you receive fix-it assignments as they are requested by Wider Horizons' members, essentially "on-call" to respond when needs arise. Just about all of our members live in Central Seattle, with the majority in Capitol Hill neighborhoods.

Volunteers may need to supply/utilize some or all of their own tools. Village members are responsible for the cost of any parts or non-tool supplies. Volunteers are not required to be bonded and licensed, but such certification is welcomed.

Wider Horizons volunteers must successfully complete an application, background check, and interview.
