- According to the Psychological Science publication, researchers have recently updated their advice for seniors, with regards to keeping their minds sharp.
- New research indicates that it is only certain activities -- learning a mentally demanding skill like photography, for instance -- that are likely to improve cognitive functioning.
- It is no longer enough just to get out and do something--rather, it is important to get out and do something that is unfamiliar and mentally challenging, and that provides broad stimulation both mentally and socially.
- The Rath Senior Connextions nonprofit provides advanced learning opportunities for individuals ages 50+ and is seeking a Spanish Instructor to volunteer his/her time 1/week (during M-F) to teach Conversational Spanish for Seniors. Scheduling is flexible. Instructor should be comfortable teaching mature adults.
- Classes are scheduled to begin in August or September (depending on your availability to start) held in Lakeland on the 2nd floor of the Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine building (1021 Lakeland Hills Blvd). Class time set by instructor's availability.
