The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), legislation which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, state and local government, public accommodations, commercial facilities, transportation, and telecommunications; was signed into law 25 years ago this month. The Center for Independent Living will host a community event celebrating this landmark legislation on July 25 in Lakeland with guest speakers and light refreshments .

Assistance is needed with general set-up/tear-down of outdoor event area. The event will be held at the front of the Center for Independent Living's building (500 South Florida Ave., Suite 330 - with exhibits set-up around the fountain. During the event, Assistants will serve as floaters offering assistance wherever it is needed at the event.

Great opportunity to help learn about opportunities for helping people with disabilities and awareness of community services available. Assignment requires individuals ages 18 and older.
