Guardian ad Litem

In Manatee, Desoto and Sarasota Counties alone, more than 1,000 children are removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. These children are victims and yet, they are the ones who must endure the many hardships of being in state care. A volunteer Guardian ad Litem ensures that these children do not face their uncertain paths alone. A Guardian ad Litem acts as the eyes and ears of the court, and gives a voice to children whose voices may otherwise not be heard. Anyone over the age of 21-years-old, with a clean background who cares about children and is able to be objective is qualified. The goal is for each child in the dependency system to have a Guardian ad Litem advocating for his or her best interest. Sadly, many children still go to court alone. Become a Guardian ad Litem and help change a child’s life forever. Many more volunteers are still needed in this coming year. Please call Toni Jefferies at 941-504-8907 or visit www.12gal.org/volunteer . A child is waiting.
