Job Summary

Qualified candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills. The candidate must be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes, able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.

Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Education.

This is a work at home position. Work is performed under broad direction of the ACCESS Executive Director with the majority of the work being performed independently.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Generates revenues for ACCESS Educational Services programs and services through timely submission of well researched, well written and well-documented grant/fundraising proposals.

    1. The total value of the grants and proposals that are filled out must be greater than or equal to $100,000.

  2. Writes reports to government, corporate, foundations and other funders

Mission Statement

The purpose of ACCESS (Achieving College and Career Enrichment Skills for Success) is to provide educational and supportive services to middle and high school students in order to prepare them for college and to pursue a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. We are a 501 c 3 nonprofit and our students are minority, often low income, or will be a first generation college student. Our objective is to give students and parents support, provided resources, opportunities, programs and activities related to STEM careers that will motivate and encourage our students to pursue a STEM related degree program. We have been in existence since 2005 and comprised of parents, volunteers, informal educators, pre-service teachers, and community leaders who are passionate about preparing our students for 21 st century careers and opportunities in hopes that they will become part of the highly skilled workforce

Description

Our expertise is creating, planning, and implementing new and innovative academic enrichment programs and activities which are well organized and safe for all of our students. For the past eight years we have serviced hundreds of middle and high school students by providing weekly tutoring in math and science, matching mentors for our students, offering afterschool, and Saturday, and Summer STEM programs and activities, and designing and facilitating college and career preparation and professional and personal development workshops. In addition, we provide opportunities for our students to compete in local and national math and engineering competitions and make visits to science museums and colleges and universities.
