A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3)non-profit organization based in New York City. Our focus is to provide children, ages 6-18 who are patients or survivors of juvenile cancer, the opportunity to explore their artistic passions and give them the strength to fight their disease. We believe that artistic expression is critical for healing! A Free Bird supports children affected by cancer in their exploration of art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing and any other artistic passion they may have.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for acquiring and setting up audio-visual equipment and software to create promotional material. Will also teach others how to use recording equipment and various forms of multimedia.

Overall Responsibilities:

-Maintain and update an inventory of supplies and equipment.

-Set up and operate audio-visual equipment and software to create promotional material.

-Advise equipment users on which pieces of equipment and software is best suited for the task at hand.

-Responsible for teaching others how to use equipment and software.

-Help maintain a library of materials including films, videos, photos, etc.

-Must support and maintain mission goal and statement of organization.

Competencies:

-Background in Computer Science, PR, Library Sciences, or related fields.

-Proficiency and experience with audio-visual equipment and software including, but not limited to, cameras, microphones, computers, recorders, iMovie, and Garageband.

-Excellent oral and written communication skills.

-Ability to assist and teach others how to use equipment and software.
