EXPERIENCE:
Football/Flag Football coaching experience preferred, but not required. It helps to have knowledge of flag football as you will be responsible for teaching your athletes skills and pieces of the game that will help in their overall development.
RESPONSBILITIES:
You will be responsible for running flag football practices and preparing players for the county, area, and state level events.
SKILLS:
Coaches teach the skills and spirit that define a true athlete. Coaches are role models and character-builders. Special Olympics coaches go even further -- they help athletes with intellectual disabilities find their own strengths and abilities. They also show them how to build upon those strengths and improve every day.
As a Special Olympics coach, you bring enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude to each practice, event and competition. You will enrich the lives of our athletes in many life-changing ways. The skills and confidence an athlete learns through sports have a long and lasting effect. They can help an athlete succeed in school or even find a job.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Protective Behaviors Online Training
- Complete a Class A Volunteer Form
- After 1 year of coaching, coaches will be required to become a Special Olympics Certified Coach. This requires that the coach attend a Special Olympic coaches training and complete practicum hours working with athletes.

Description
Special Olympics Florida provides sports training and Olympic-style competition to more than 60,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities throughout the state. Special Olympics Florida is a Level I Accredited Program (highest level of accreditation granted by SOI) and is divided into 11 area programs, which cover over 55 counties.
