Mission Statement

"The mission of Special Olympics Florida (SOFL) is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Description

Special Olympics Florida provides sports training and Olympic-style competition to more than 60,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities throughout the state. Special Olympics Florida is a Level I Accredited Program (highest level of accreditation granted by SOI) and is divided into 11 area programs, which cover over 55 counties.

I had a lovely time when I volunteered here, the people were very kind & informative! They provided water, snacks, and it was pretty interesting and fun to learn a little about golf too!!

This was one of the nicest communities I have volunteered with. We all had the opportunity to help in different sports and make the athletes have an amazing experience. I would love to voulenteer again in the future :)
